Children and Sensory Issues:  An Explanation of Sensory Processing and the Connection to Behavior

Wednesday May 8th 2019 5:30-7:30pm

Sensory Processing has a direct relationship to the nervous system. When a child has difficulty with sensory processing or sensory modulation, it can be seen in their behavior. Children who are sensitive to sensory input are often deemed as aggressive, irritable, and defiant. Children who cannot get enough sensory input are often labeled as inattentive, out of control, defiant, and risk takers. Children who are excessively clumsy or have difficulty learning new skills can also have sensory processing difficulties. This workshop will explain sensory processing and its relationship on behavior. Tips for parents, teachers, and professionals will also be discussed.
